CM reviews law, order situation

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting at the Arfa Karim Software Technology Park on Thursday which reviewed an overall law and order situation and security arrangements.

According to a handout, the meeting decided to expand the scope of use of information technology to the entire province for improving efficiency of police stations and provision of prompt justice to the common man. He said a pilot project for the computerisation of 10 police stations of Lahore would be extended to all police stations in Punjab in phases.

The CM directed the authorities concerned to evolve a comprehensive project in this regard.

Apart from short-term planning, he said the medium and long-term planning should also be made as use of information technology could help in reducing crime rate and providing prompt justice to the common man at police stations.

Shahbaz directed that the police should extend the scope of the FIR information system.
