Trend report: Straight from the runway

Here’s what we didn’t care much for at the PSFW this time: boring versions of the ghagra choli, the long-hackneyed ball skirt and digital prints that designers just can’t let go of! On the upside, here’s what we liked

Easy breezy off-shoulder tunics and ponchos

For the woman who likes to keep things simple, structured with appliquéd organza on net and crepe silks by Misha Lakhani.

Stripes

In neon multi-colors by Hina Butt and pleated and printed by Muse.

Standout arm-candy

The ‘briefcase’ box clutch by Hisham Malik, in brown hues by Zonia Anwaar and in Beech Tree’s high-street line-up and the funky angular neon clutches by Nickie Nina.

Organza, worn right

Mastered by Muse, Sania Maskatiya, Sana Safinaz and ruffled dramatically by Natasha Kamal.

True blue

Particularly standing out in shades of indigo, turquoise and sky blue in Nida Azwer’s ‘Iznik’ line, on baggy lowers in the House of Ittehad show, on kimono jackets by HSY, mixed and matched with animal prints by Generation and on some chic retail-friendly designs by Beech Tree.

Cinch that waist!

The slim model waist, accentuated by Fahad Hussayn with flowers and tiny angel wings; the thin belt tied at the front and kept loose at the back by Misha Lakhani, to suit all silhouettes; metal belts in Muse’s show.

Waistcoats

Sleek front-pocketed versions by Zara Shahjahan, embellished with multi-colored truck art in the ‘Teena’ by Hina Butt line, structured from lawn by Gul Ahmed and given ethnic twists by FnkAsia.

Fringes

Eye-popping blue, dangling down skirts and shirts by Muse and on bags, hems and swishing down blouses by Natasha Kamal.
