CHEATING in the on-going secondary board examinations is being exercised freely in Sindh. All the secondary education boards in Sindh have miserably failed to repress the trend of cheating in the board examinations.

Corruption is rampant in the boards and integrity of checking answer copies is also questionable.

This is a clear evidence of failure of the current structure and management of the boards. It is suggested that the secondary school examination system in Sindh should be centralised.

In this regard, all the individual divisional boards should be abolished and be replaced with a central examination board based in Karachi with its facilitation offices in all districts of Sindh. The central board should be given the responsibility of conducting the secondary examinations and the role the facilitation office should be limited to facilitate students in issuance of certificates, marks sheets, slips, etc.

A centralised examination system is in practice in many countries and it could prove to be better than the existing one.
