Explosives-laden vehicle seized; two arrested

QUETTA: A terrorism bid was foiled as security forces seized on Friday an explosives-laden pick-up in the border town of Chaman and detained two suspects.

Official sources said that Frontier Corps personnel on a tip-off raided a house in Roghani on the outskirts of Chaman and seized the pick-up parked there.

According to an FC spokesman, around 1,200kg of explosives were loaded in the pick-up. He said three suicide jackets were found in the vehicle and two suspects arrested at the house.

The spokesman claimed that the suspects belonged to a banned religious organisation and were involved in terrorist attacks.

He said the vehicle was being prepared for carrying out terrorist attacks in Chaman or Quetta.

Meanwhile, the FC personnel carried out search in Sibi and Harnai and took five suspects into custody.

One suspect was arrested near Sibi town and six automatic weapons were found in his possession.

During a raid at a place in Harnai, security personnel arrested four suspects and seized some arms and ammunition.
