Boy, school guard injured by robbers

LAHORE: Three gunmen shot at and injured a teenaged boy and a security guard on Friday near a missionary school in Behar Colony, police said.

They snatched a motorcycle from 14-year-old Lucky, of Model Colony.

Police said the gunmen held Lucky near St Francis High School and injured him on resistance. They also shot at and injured school guard Aamir when he tried to rescue the boy.

Liaqatabad police called it an act of street crime while some posts on social media suggested that the gunmen tried to enter the school but the guard frustrated their attempt.

Both the injured were shifted to Jinnah Hospital where Lucky was treated for a minor injury in his arm while Aamir was also stated to be in a stable condition.

DIG Dr Haider Ashraf dispelled the impression that the school came under attack. He said the assailants were robbers who snatched the motorcycle and escaped after injuring the guard and the boy.

In another incident, two gunmen looted Rs25,000 from a journalist at Main Faisal Town Road.

Police said Imtiaz had drawn the cash from an ATM of a local bank when the gunmen held him at gunpoint.
