Woman backtracks from rape allegation

GUJAR KHAN: A woman who accused three men of raping her in Gujar Khan a few days ago backtracked from the allegation, the local police said.

The 25-year-old on Sunday approached the Koral police in Islamabad and stated that she worked with an NGO till her resignation last year. She said she wanted to marry one of her former colleagues in the NGO, who was a resident of Gujar Khan. The woman said a few days ago the father of her former colleague called her to Gujar Khan to discuss the proposal. When she arrived in Gujar Khan, the father of the colleague along with two other men raped her. They later dropped her in the jurisdiction of the Koral police.

The Koral police sent the woman back to Gujar Khan saying the incident had reportedly occurred out of their jurisdiction.

When this correspondent contacted the SHO Gujar Khan, Raja Akhtar, he said the complainant and her mother could not give any authentic argument in the presence of the accused persons. “The woman gave a written statement that she had levelled the allegation of rape against the father and two relatives of her former colleague out of frustration as the young man was not ready to marry her,” said the SHO.
