‘Timid’ judge not entitled to be a judge: LHC CJ

LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik says a judicial officer must decide cases on merit, without fear or getting under pressure and a judge who does not do so is not entitled to be a judge and he should do some other work.

He was addressing the Lahore Bar Association (LBA) here on Wednesday.

Justice Malik said the people often complained about the cases filed by their ancestors that were still pending with the courts and judicial record also verified that civil cases filed in 1990 were still pending. He asked the public to provide him evidence against any judge involved in corruption and that he would take strict action against the corrupt judge.

The LHC CJ stated that only three per cent lawyers misused their powers but the remaining 97 per cent lawyers should stop them from doing so. He asked the lawyers to work with dedication and commitment to serve the nation. He recalled the time of his practice at the bar.
