LAHORE: Pakistan's star all-rounder and a regular in all three formats of the game, Mohammad Hafeez, was confident of clearing his bowling action test to be conducted in Indian city of Chennai on April 9.

Hafeez said he had been bowling with the same action for the past eleven years and made corrections according to the new protocol set by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

“I am an ordinary bowler with no special deliveries such as doosra or teesra but have been effective for Pakistan the way I bowl naturally,” said Hafeez.

“I have been bowling with the same action since the start of my career and no objections were raised. I have just worked to modify my action as per the new protocol set by the ICC,” he added.

Hafeez, 34, has been one of Pakistan's key player, having scored 4,542 runs and taken 122 wickets in 155 One-day internationals.

Hafeez, who had already failed two unofficial bio-mechanics tests, was due to undergo an official assessment on Feb 16 in Brisbane but a calf muscle injury prevented him in doing so.

Talking to reporters in Lahore, Hafeez said Pakistan's upcoming series against Bangladesh would be a challenge. “Defeating Bangladesh was never easy and they have really evolved in recent times,” he said.

Hafeez said Bangladesh series would be the start of a new era for Pakistan cricket with several new faces making it to the international arena.

He also said he had full confidence in Azhar Ali's leadership.

“Azhar is a capable player and I am sure he will prove his worth on the field,” Hafeez said of the 30-year-old right handed batsman.
