15 candidates get election symbols

KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday allocated election symbols to the 15 candidates in the run after the withdrawal of nomination papers by 12 candidates for the April 23 by-election on the NA-246 seat.

In the constituency, the main contestants are MQM’s Kanwar Naveed Jamil who has been allotted the symbol of kite, PTI’s Imran Ismail with the election symbol of bat, and JI’s Rashid Nasim with the symbol of scale, while the remaining candidates are independent.

According to a final list issued by the commission on Thursday, the other candidates in the run are: Aslam Shah (pressure cooker), Ashraf Ali Qureshi (toothbrush), M. Mahfoozyar Khan (suitcase), Perwaiz Ali (bottle), Hassan Pervaiz (corn), Syed Azhar-ul-Hassan Qaderi (electric heater), Syed Usman Ali (watermelon), Seema Zarin (dressing table), Abdul Sattar Ansari (still camera), Usman Muazzam Siddiqui (balloons), Mohammad Ayub Khan (drum) and Muanum Zafar (bucket).
