Motorcyclist killed, passerby injured in ‘panic fire’

LAHORE: A young motorcyclist was killed while a teenaged passerby sustained bullet injuries when owner of a luxury car resorted to indiscriminate fire after his vehicle was accidentally hit by a car near Cavalry Ground on Wednesday.

Police said Hasnain (21), was on his motorcycle while Zain (18) was walking along the road when the luxury car owner opened fire, killing the motorcyclist on the spot and injuring the pedestrian.

Eyewitnesses told newsmen that earlier two cars accidentally collided on a Cavalry Ground road.

Following the minor accident, the owner and others occupying the luxury vehicle exchanged words with the woman driving the other car.

“The man in the luxury car rushed to his vehicle, pulled out a pistol and opened indiscriminate fire”, said Shoaib, who watched the whole episode from a distance.

He said the woman speedily drove away when the firing began.

Sarwar Road Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ehsan Gondal said two of the luxury car occupants had been taken into custody, while the pistol used in shooting incident was also seized.
