Commandos deployed in Lakki city

LAKKI MARWAT: The district police have deployed commandos of the Quick Response Force (QRF) in Lakki city to enhance security in the area, particularly around the the district jail.

The decision was taken when the district police chief Ali Akbar Shah revisited the security plan of the district jail after shifting of the police lines from Lakki city to the District Headquarters Complex, Tajazai, said an official on Tuesday.

He said that commandos backed by armoured personnel carriers would be on standby at Lakki Marwat police stations round the clock to respond quickly to any untoward incident.

The official said the district police officer had also ordered relevant quarters to tighten security of the jail and ensure effective monitoring of all nakabandis (check points).

“Several checking points have been established in the urban area where jail is located,” he maintained, saying that Lakki circle SDPO had been directed to routinely check the presence of cops at the checking points.

The official said that the deployment of QRF personnel would augment the security of district jail besides helping to maintain law and order in Lakki city and adjoining localities.

Meanwhile, a police party arrested a drug trafficker and eight suspects during an action in Abakhel village on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided a place and arrested a drug pusher identified as Attaullah of the village, and recovered 500 grams of hashish and two bottles of wine from him. A case was registered against him in Lakki Marwat police station.

The police also captured eight suspected persons and shifted them to Lakki police station for interrogation.
