Hangmen & mobs

THIS refers to the article ‘Hangmen are slow, call the mobs’ (March 24). The first paragraph is enough to bring out the nationalist within me.

However, upon giving the writer a chance, I realised the point that he was trying to make. Not an insult to either side but a rude awakening pointing to the obvious. Harsh yet necessary; the writing surely jolted me for which I thank the writer.

Man feels a dire need to protect his identity; may it be on the pretext of nationalism, religion or any other ideal. While the wrongdoings should not be encouraged, any nation would succumb to an early grave if there are not those who show valour to its cause.

In favour of my people though, I would like to voice that seldom do we show nationalist pride, and things are gradually but eventually changing for the better. Amid the bouquet of everything that is wrong, we are so very thankful to the few things that will act as the air of change.
