Peshawar gets first online grocery shop

PESHAWAR: The first online grocery shop opened in the provincial capital on Wednesday.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fawad Ishaq inaugurated the outlet of Durshal Delivery in Hayatabad Township during a special ceremony, which was organised by the Women Business Development Centre, Peshawar.

Senator Sitara Ayaz, IM Sciences Peshawar director Dr Mohsin Khan, political activist Rabia Basri, provincial Smeda chief Javed Iqbal Khattak, WBDC project manager Nabeela Farman, noted woman entrepreneur Nelofar Sami and representatives of educational institutions attended the event.

Durshal Delivery launched by Abida Jilani, a widow, will take orders of groceries valuing not less than Rs5,000 by the telephone, SMS or email.

The orders will be delivered on payment of the Rs100 transport charges.

The idea of the unique service’s launch has been taken from a Discovery Channel programme.
