Two security men killed in attack on DC’s convoy

KHUZDAR: Two security personnel lost their lives and another four suffered injuries when gunmen ambushed the convoy of deputy commissioner Kharan on Friday. One of the attackers was also killed when the security men returned fire.Deputy Commissioner Raziq Dilawary escaped unhurt.

According to Levies officials, the attack took place in Rachil area, some 50km from Kharan town. The deputy commissioner had gone there to conduct a raid after receiving information that some suspects involved in attacks on security forces and installations were hiding there.

As the convoy entered the area unidentified men holed up there opened fire upon it. Security personnel returned fire and the gunfight continued for about an hour, officials said. The attackers fled when more security personnel reached the scene of the crime.

Two security men and one of the attackers were killed and four personnel injured.

The injured were taken to the district hospital in Kharan, where one of them was said to be in critical condition.

After the incident, security personnel conducted a search operation in the area and took some suspects into custody for interrogation.
