LAKKI MARWAT: The Lakki Marwat education department has appointed 19 teachers against the vacant posts in government middle, high and higher secondary schools.

An official said on Saturday that district education officer Nazir Khan notified appointment orders of the teachers. He said the newly appointed teachers had qualified NTS test and were placed on merit list.

“In theology teacher category, Abdul Waseem Khan, Aasim Rehman, Ghafoor Rehman, Mohammad Iqbal and Tahir Shah were appointed at government middle, high and higher secondary schools of Marmandi Multan, Aezerkhel, Surband, Landiwah and Eesakkhel, respectively,” said the official.

Similarly, he said Rafiullah Khan, Osman Ghani and Himayatullah were appointed as drawing masters (DMs) in government middle and high schools of Adamzai, Mela Shahabkhel and Tarikhel, respectively.

“Seven teachers, including Shahidullah, Safiullah, Ashrafuddin, Mohammad Suleman, Jamshed Iqbal and Niaz Mohammad, were appointed as Arabic teachers (ATs) in government middle, high and higher secondary schools of Abakhel, Aezerkhel, Nazarjan Betanni, Tap Takhtikhel, Sattar Bettani and Nar Otam Garh, respectively,” he maintained.

The official said that Zafrullah Khan, Qudratullah, Safiullah, Samiullah and Hakimullah were recruited as Qari teachers in government high and higher secondary schools of Tabi Murad, Wanda Shahabkhel, Aezerkhel, Shakh Quli Khan and Darra Pezu, respectively.

He said that the new teachers had been directed to assume charge in their respective schools. “The appointment of new teachers will help overcome the shortage of teaching staff in public sector schools,” he claimed.

SHOP BURGLED: Unknown thieves broke into a mobile phone shop in Lakki city on late Friday night and took away valuable items.

A source said that the shop was situated on the main bus stand near Qazi Ishfaq chowk. “The thieves entered the shop owned by Qayyum Khan by making a hole in the roof and decamped with mobile phones and other accessories,” he maintained.

The source said the burglary incident spread unrest among the traders dealing in the business of mobile phones.  

Meanwhile, the local chapter of mobile phone dealers’ association condemned the incident and asked the local police to trace and nab the thieves.

Speaking at a meeting the participants expressed concern over the rising theft incidents in the area. They said policemen had been tasked with guarding local Khans (elite) and officers, ignoring the prime responsibility of protecting lives and properties of citizens.

The traders set a 48 hours deadline for the arrest of thieves and demanded of the local police to deploy cops for night duty at the bus stand to avoid such incidents in future.
