Australia rounds off pool campaign with seven-wicket win over Scots

HOBART: Australia rounded off their World Cup Pool A campaign with a seven-wicket hammering of Scotland at Bellerive Oval, Hobart, on Saturday.

Victory was all but assured for the tournament co-hosts, already into the quarter-finals, when they dismissed Scotland for just 130 in the non-Test side's last Pool A match of this World Cup.

Left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc took four for 14 in 4.4 overs.

Scotland's innings featured five ducks and this latest loss left the non-Test nation still looking for a maiden World Cup win in 14 matches across three editions.

Australia captain Michael Clarke, who promoted himself to open in a bid to gain batting practice ahead of Australia's quarter-final in Adelaide on March 20, made a run-a-ball 47.

Meanwhile David Warner, batting down the order, smashed 21 not out off just six balls as Australia finished on 133 for three in 15.2 overs.
