Karachi corps commander praises Rangers’ operation

KARACHI: A day after the Rangers’ raid on the MQM headquarters, Karachi Corps Commander Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar has praised the action taken by the paramilitary force, indicating complete backing of the Pakistan Army for the recent surge in ‘targeted operation’ in Karachi.

The corps commander visited the headquarters of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, on Thursday and was briefed for more than an hour. He commended the Rangers’ ‘hard work’ and expressed the hope that the operation would continue at the same pace.

“The corps commander praised the dedication and hard work of Rangers personnel who work day and night to bring stability and normalcy to the city,” said a statement issued by the Rangers.

“He also hoped that the pace of current across-the-board operations, which are being conducted without any bias, will continue till the elimination of last criminal, terrorist, target-killer and anti-social element from the area of responsibility.”

Sindh Rangers Director General Major General Bilal Akbar informed the corps commander about the raid on Nine Zero and its adjoining areas.

He said the operation had been conducted on intelligence about presence of hardcore target killers, absconders, criminals and anti-social elements in the area, who were hiding in a virtually ‘no-go area, the statement said.
