Probe into hospital medicines’ sale

FAISALABAD: The district administration has formed a three-member committee to probe the sale of medicines provided to the General Hospital, Ghulam Muhammad Abad, in market.

The inquiry team, comprising District Officer Coordination Saba Adil (head), EDO Health Dr Waqar Sadiq and the medical superintendent of the Hilal-e-Ahmar Hospital, will also find out that why the hospital administration is giving medicines to patients having no government stamps.

The issues of medicines without stamp and their sale in the local markets came to the fore when DCO Noorul Amin Mengal paid a surprise visit to the hospital on Saturday.

During inspection of the dispensary and process of issuance of medicines to the patients, he found that drugs being given to patients had no government stamps.

The DCO took EDO (health) Waqar Sadiq and the hospital’s medical superintendent Syed Masood Bukhari to the task and asked them to carefully monitor the process of medicine issuance.

He also took notice of the poor cleanliness at the hospital and asked the MS to fire the delinquent staff concerned. He personally made the sweepers to clean certain portions of hospital points.

Mr Mengal told Dawn the inquiry committee would submit its report within 42 hours.

encounter: Police claimed to have killed three alleged robbers in an encounter in Chak 237-RB, Khudin Warraichan, on Saturday night.

Police said Rescue 15 received a call at 3am that five armed robbers were looting people on the road in Chak 237-RB near Roshan Wali Jhal.

A police team led by Saddar Station House Officer Yousaf Shehzad reached the spot. On seeing police, the suspects opened fire, which was returned. Resultantly, two of the suspects died on the spot while another died on the way to hospital, police claimed. The remaining managed to flee.

The deceased robbers were identified as Jahanzeb, Ali Haider and Dilawar. They were involved in robbery and dacoity cases registered with Saddar, Dijkot, D Type Colony, Jhang Bazaar and Thekariwala police stations, police claimed.

Police said three pistols were also seized from the spot.
