PTI dissenter ‘missing’

PESHAWAR: Javed Nasim, an disgruntled MPA of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf failed to turn up in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Thursday to cast vote in the Senate elections.

Nasim was expelled from the PTI for seconding the nomination papers of Waqar Ahmad Khan and Fauzia Mehrunnisa for Senate elections from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Whereabouts of the MPA, who was elected from PF-3, Peshawar, on a PTI ticket, were not known.

When the election officials called Nasim’s name to cast vote, he didn’t show up.

The people expected the MPA would vote for Waqar Ahmad Khan despite his public’s announcement that he would cast vote for the candidates having blessings of PTI chief Imran Khan.

Wajihuzzaman, a disgruntled MPA of the PML-N, who proposed the candidature of Waqar Ahmed Khan, told media that he had been trying to reach Nasim since Wednesday but to no avail.

Nasim, who joined the PTI in 2007, had issues with the provincial government from the very start and was given notices by the party from time to time.
