Five officials suspended for poor recovery of power dues

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Water and Power suspended on Wednesday five senior officers of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) and two officers were issued show-cause notices for poor recovery of electric bills.

An official statement said that the action had been taken by Water and Power Secretary Younus Dagha during a surprise visit to various areas of the Hesco on Wednesday.

The ministry has had been under criticism for poor recovery of electricity dues, resulting in increase in cost of power generation as well as the consumer tariff.

“These officers were found inefficient in dues’ recovery and having been involvement in wrong adjustment of dues,” the statement said.

Those suspended included Executive Engineer (XEN) of Tando Muhammad Khan Executive Engineer (XEN) Muhammad Shaheen Umar, Mirpur Khas XEN Muha-mmad Hanif Arain, Tando Muhammad Revenue Officer of Khan Jalaluddin Rajput Mirpurkhas Resi-dent Officer Khalid Tabassum and Deputy Commercial of Manager of Nawabshah Irshad Ahmed Memon.

The Superintending Engineer (SE) of Nawabshah, Syed Ahmed Dawach, was served with a show-cause notice on bad performance.
