Saaf Pani Project in four tehsils of south Punjab

BAHAWALPUR: The Punjab government’s Saaf Pani Project costing about Rs1bn will be launched in the select four tehsils of as many districts of south Punjab.

This was stated by regional director of company executing the project, Munim Khan, while briefing Commissioner Saqib Zafar here on Wednesday.

He said 63 water filtration plants would be installed in Hasilpur, Khanpur, Minchinabad and Lodhran tehsils and about two million people would benefit from them. He said the plants would be run by the company for three years and later by the committees comprising public representatives.

KILLED: The Civil Lines police claimed to have killed in an encounter two brothers wanted in several cases of robberies across the province.

The suspects were identified as Ali Raza and Ahmad Raza. Police claimed that last night the suspects were taken to the Khairpur Tamewali Police Station area for recovery of stolen property. When they led the police to a rented house near Darbar Mahal, six armed men opened fire on police. During the firing, the two brothers sustained serious injuries while the attackers managed to flee. They succumbed to their injuries on way to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH). A case has been registered against the unidentified attackers.
