PFF polls in July

KARACHI: The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) will hold its elections on July 31, a news release by the country’s football governing body said on Wednesday.

The posts of president, executive committee and women members will all be up for the polls which will be held in accordance with “FIFA/AFC approved statutes and directives”.

“It is very likely that incumbent president Faisal Saleh Hayat and the other members of the executive committee will be elected unopposed,” a PFF source told Dawn on Monday. “I don’t see anyone standing against Hayat.”

The polls mark the end of a four-year term and will be held following the elections of the District Football Associations (March 31) and Provincial/Regional Associations (April 30).

In another announcement, the PFF said that it will follow the path of the AFC by celebrating the Women’s Football Day on the International Women’s Day on March 8. The PFF will “hold different relevant activities to create awareness about women’s football”, said a news release.
