Library sans catalogue

THIS refers to the deplorable state of students library in my college, ICB, G-6/3, Islamabad. The library has been without a catalogue for the last 10 years. If you have to find a book, after sifting through many rows of books, you come to the conclusion that the library actually does not possess it. This is despite the fact that the library has sufficient staff.

The library does not lend books to students. Teachers who come to read newspapers talk more and reads less. Then there is a TV hanging high on the wall.

Although it remains mute, even then it diverts the reader’s attention by producing light flashes.

Book collection of the library is meagre. About some topics and languages, it does not boast a single volume. Despite my effort I have not been able to find a single book written in Persian. Although it has some encyclopaedias and reference books, they are permanently locked. No visitor can use or touch them. I think this library in no way is creating reading habits among our students.
