One year since terror attack on district courts

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) will observe mourning day all over the country on March 3 on the first anniversary of the terrorist attack on Islamabad district courts.

On this day last year, four to eight terrorists entered the courts’ premises and opened fire and threw hand grenades on the people present there.

In the attack 12 people including Additional Session Judge Rafaqat Awan were killed and 28 others injured.

District administration had paid compensation to the families of the deceased and injured persons but so far culprits could not be punished.

The PBC vice-chairman, Azam Nazeer Tarar, said all bar associations would hold meetings in their respective bar rooms and arrange Quran Khawani for the departed souls.

Advocate Tarar has also showed concerns over government’s failure to pay appropriate compensation to the victims families and called upon the government to pay attention to this issue. — A Reporter
