Scholarship quota for south students increased

BAHAWALPUR: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has increased 25 per cent scholarship quota for the boy and girl students of south Punjab from the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) and International Development Fund (IDF).

This was stated by MNA Begum Parveen Masood Bhatti at a scholarship-distribution ceremony at the Government Girls College, Dubai Mahal Road, here on Sunday.

She said with the enhancement of south Punjab’s quota, scholarships worth Rs70 million would be given away to 3,000 talented students of Bahawalpur district during the current year. She said a scholarship of Rs9,000 and Rs18,000 had been fixed monthly for a day scholar and a boarder (boy and girl), respectively.

As many as 789 students of the district were distributed scholarships of total Rs15 million in the ceremony.

HONORARIUM: The board of directors of the Bahawalpur Waste Management Company (BWMC) on Sunday announced one-week honorarium for its sanitary workers.

The announcement has been made in recognition of workers’ services to keep the city clean and encourage them for providing better service to the citizens even in future.
