Strict action ordered against display of arms

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered strict action against those involved in display of arms and wall chalking.

Sources told Dawn that the chief minister issued the directives at a meeting held recently.

A senior police officer told Dawn that the chief minister had categorically told the meeting that anyone involved in the display of arms should be booked and case be registered under anti-terrorism laws.

He said the chief minister also expressed his concern over the ongoing trend of wall chalking which he said still going on despite his clear instructions.

The CM also took exception to delay in submission of challans in the court.

The cases were piling up due to slow investigation, he told the meeting. On the other hand, the chief of police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera has directed the DPOs to ensure registration of cases under the 21st amendment.
