Pakistan record disabled T20 series victory against Afghanistan

KARACHI: Spinner Fayyaz Ahmed produced an excellent four-wicket spell to help Pakistan clinch the Disabled T20 Cricket Series against Afghanistan with a 34-run defeat of the tourists in the second game at the National Stadium here on Monday.

Defending a total of 139-6, Pakistan dismissed Afghanistan for 105 in 19.1 overs despite a defiant run-a-ball innings of 47 from opener Mohammad Ashraf who laced his knock with six boundaries.

Slow left-armer Fayyaz was the star performer for the jubilant home side with figures of four for 10 runs, a performance that earned him the man-of-the-match award.

Earlier, skipper Hasnain Alam struck seven fours in making 38 from 28 deliveries after Pakistan opted to bat first. Danish Ahmed remained undefeated with a 25-ball 34 that included three fours and a six, while Abdullah Ejaz hit 19 off 13 balls with three fours.

Off-spinner Abdullah snared three wickets for 16 runs.

Pakistan, who won Sunday’s opening match by 37 runs, will play Afghanistan in the third and final T20 at the same venue on Tuesday.
