CCTV cameras installed in 52 schools

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has installed CCTV cameras in 52 educational institutions in the capital city.

Besides, the boundary walls of some educational institutions are being raised. The division has allocated Rs180 million for enhancing the security arrangements in the educational institutions.

Sources in CADD said private security guards had been hired for colleges in the aftermath of the Peshawar incident.

They said a mobile emergency alert system had also been installed in each of the educational institutions to send a distress signal to the police in case of an emergency.

Moreover, focal persons have been identified in all the 422 educational institutions and their names along with that of the heads of institutions have been communicated to the police.

Security briefings were also arranged for all the principals/focal persons with the help of the capital police.

The sources said visitors were being allowed to enter the institutions after providing their identity for which the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) had developed an online security inspection monitoring system (SIMS).
