PM announces Rs5bn package for Quetta

QUETTA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced on Thursday a Rs5 billion development package for Quetta and said that funds should be spent on building roads, improving sanitary system and cleaning the city.

During a briefing, the prime minister directed the provincial government and Wapda to prepare feasibility report for the construction of dams in the drought-hit areas of Balochistan. Funds to the tune Rs30bn would be given for the purpose and international donors would be asked for assistance, he added.

Mr Sharif directed the minister for petroleum and natural resources to install oil terminals in those 22 districts of Balochistan where gas supply was not available.
