Achakzai meets PM, discusses Gwadar-Kashgar route‏

QUETTA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has agreed to convene a meeting of political parties of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to discuss the proposed Gwadar-Kashgar route.

Chief of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), Mehmood Khan Achakzai called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday to discuss the proposed route from Gwadar to Kashgar.

The meeting has come in the aftermath of growing concern among the three smaller provinces about the proposed route.

Achakzai briefed the premier about the sense of deprivation among the political parties and masses of three smaller provinces including Sindh, KP and Balochistan.

Sources told Dawn that the premier agreed to convene the meeting with regard to the reservations of smaller provinces.

"The date of the meeting is yet to be fixed," they said. Political and religious parties in Balochistan and KP have announced agitation against the proposed route.

They are demanding of the federal government to pass the route through three smaller provinces to benefit their masses.

Achakzai also called on opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah and apprised him about the reservations of Sindh, KP and Balochistan regarding Gwadar-Kashgar route.

Sources in PPP told Dawn that the opposition leader has decided to write a formal letter to Prime Minister Sharif within the next couple of days regarding the route.
