KU: students’ woes

I AM a student at Karachi University. It is spread over 1,279 acres, having eight faculties, and more than 55 departments and research centres.

Currently, about 80,000 students are attending this public-sector university. Students come from all over the country as well as from abroad. However, one of the issues is the lack of rooms for teachers to conduct lectures.

If a teacher, by any chance, gets a proper classroom to give lecture, there are inadequate seating arrangements. There aren’t enough benches to facilitate all students. Hence, some of them are forced to sit on the floor.

The point to be noted is that there is plenty of space at the campus. A lot of unused land could be utilised to increase the number of classrooms. The authority concerned should look into the matter.
