POA mulls constitutional amendments

LAHORE: The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has decided to make suitable amendments in its constitution in order to protect the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Charter from any interference of the government in future.

The POA has sent a letter to all its affiliated units numbering around 43 to send their suggestions in making the amendments to the constitution. After receiving suggestions, the POA will put it before its general council members sometime during the next month to give approval to the amendments. The government has been interfering in the POA matters particularly from 2012 to 2014 and even it has established its own POA against the instructions of the IOC. However, the government went on back step in2014 when the IOC was at the brink of banning Pakistan due to undue government interference.
