KOHAT: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao vowed on Sunday that nobody would be allowed to change the route of Pak-China economic corridor passing through southern districts of the province.

Speaking at a public gathering of party office-bearers and people of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here, he however suggested that a foreign office committee should be constituted to settle the matter concerning change in the route of Pak-China economic corridor.

He said that QWP had accepted the 21st Amendment and now the result of any failure in its implementation would be on the shoulders of the government. He regretted that hurdles were being created in the way of prosperity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and amenities and concessions were being offered to big provinces.

He claimed that actual hideouts of the terrorists were in Punjab, but Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been made a scapegoat in the fight against terror. He said that Pakhtuns were suffering because of sharing border with Afghanistan.

He said that over one million of Pakhtuns had to live as IDPs who were left in the lurch by the federal government.

Mr Sherpao said that the federal government should establish new relationship on equal basis with Kabul and Pakhtuns should be given representation in the policy making.

He claimed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had the potential to produce up to 50,000 mega watts of cheap hydel power, but the federal government was intentionally neglecting it.

SCHOOLS’ SECURITY: The district police have introduced SIM SOS programme for quick response to any untoward incident in educational institutions.

Speaking at a meeting of education officials, district police officer Saleem Marwat said that the distress message could be sent to four points at a time in case of emergency.

The DPO said that for this purpose the schools and colleges would have to specify one SIM number.

He said that by just pressing a button of the mobile phone having that particular SIM it would send the message to DPO, Rescue-15, control room, DSP office and SHO of the nearest police station and support would reach at the scene within minutes.
