Nadra officials sentenced for issuing NICs to Afghans

QUETTA: An accountability court sentenced two assistant directors of the National Database Regulatory Authority (Nadra) to seven-year jail term on Friday for issuing bogus National Identity Cards (NICs) to Afghan refugees.

Judge Rozi Khan Bareech of the Accountability Court Quetta-1 also fined assistant directors Syed Ali Muhammad Agha and Rizwan Aftab Rs4 million each.

The action was taken on a reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau, Balochistan. The two had been in custody since June last year.

In case of non-payment of fine, they will have to undergo jail term for another year.

The officials of Nadra’s Quetta office were sentenced under the NAB Ordinance.
