Parents panicked by security alerts

LAHORE: The recent heightened security measures at the city’s educational institutions are panicking parents who have to wait outside the campuses during opening and closing hours, creating a vulnerable situations.

Worried parents are making phone calls to newspaper offices to share their concerns regarding the prevailing situation after frightened by rumours and threat alerts by different educational institutions.

Some of the parents say the Punjab government should review the decision to open the educational institutions given the security threats.

“The security measures should be invisible so that there should not be panic,” a faculty member of an institution said.

Meanwhile, DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf said the police were on high alert and providing substantial security to all educational institutions in the city.

He agreed that the rumour mongering was actually creating panic. “The police are responding to all alerts and taking measures to protect people in the best possible way,” he added.
