LAKKI MARWAT: Two displaced tribesmen of North Waziristan Agency were killed by their rivals near Naurang town here on Thursday, police said. 

They said that Malik Momeed Khan and his sons, Khalid Khan and Tariq Khan, were ambushed by their rivals near Naurang town when they were going to Nar Hakim Khan village to meet their relatives. They said that Khalid and Tariq died on the spot while their father sustained bullet injuries. 

The police said that the victim family had a dispute over the ownership a mountain in their tribal region with the attackers.The bodies and the injured were shifted to a local hospital in Naurang town. A case has been registered against Gul Wali, Syed Akbar, Amir Khan, Gulab Khan and Rasool Khan, all residents of North Waziristan, on the complaint of Momeed Khan.

Separately, two women were killed and two male members of their family seriously wounded in a collision between two cars on Indus Highway bypass in Titterkhel on Thursday evening. According to eyewitnesses, both cars were badly damaged and one of them rolled over several times.

They said that one woman died on the spot and one succumbed to her injuries later. They complained that doctors were not present on duty when the injured were taken to the civil hospital in Titterkhel.

A resident who was present in the hospital told this correspondent on phone that deputy commissioner Ihsanullah also visited the hospital and expressed anger over the absence of doctors. He also recommended action against the absent doctors.

The bodies and wounded men were then shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Tajazai.

When contacted DHQ hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Abdul Rehman said that bodies of two females and the two wounded men had been brought to the hospital. He identified one of injured as Mohammad Aslam Shah and said that the deceased women and the wounded men belonged to Kohat.

QUAID REMEMBERED: The local administration and the district boy scouts association held a function at the district headquarters complex, Tajazai, on Thursday to mark the birth anniversary of the founder of the nation Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Students and boy scouts of government schools sang patriotic songs and presented tableaus. They also shed light on the life, work and struggle of Quaid-i-Azam for the creation of Pakistan. Deputy commissioner Ihsanullah Khan, additional deputy commissioner, Bannu, Damsaz Khan, FR Lakki APA Abdul Kabeer, education officials and notables of the district also attended the function.
