CDA carries out operation against illegal excavation

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) carried out an operation on Thursday against illegal excavation done for networking purposes and removed fiber optic cables.

The operation was conducted on the directions of CDA Member Administrations and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed.

He had instructed staff to be firm in action against illegal cable networks and directed the Directorate of Municipal Administration of CDA to continue without fear or favour.

He said that such illegal excavation work in the capital city was not only creating pollution and damaging infrastructure but also causing financial losses to the CDA. He said CDA will not allow its land to be used for any kind of illegal networking of cables, adding that the operation will continue with full force.

The operation aims to bring the fiber optics under the formal tax net to increase revenue generation through telecom infrastructure. In this regard, a special team of telecom unit has been constituted by the CDA Director Municipal Administration, which is taking effective measures against the illegal networking of cables to discourage this practice.

Residents of the Federal Capital have appreciated the operation against illegal networking of cables and expressed hope that such operations would be extended to other sectors of the city. — APP
