Jabbar, Mudassar shine

KARACHI: Abdul Jabbar excelled with a fine half-century and paceman Mudassar Ghulam took four wickets as Sindh Police overwhelmed Eaton by 85 runs to qualify for the last-four stage of the 19th Hinopak Trophy KCCA Inter-departmental Cricket League here on Friday.

After opting to bat first in the third quarter-final at the KCCA Stadium, Sindh Police posted a healthy 268 all out in 43 overs with Jabbar contributing 74 off 98 balls with the help of seven boundaries and one six.

Shiraz hit a brace of fours and one six in making 44, while Naeem Akhtar scored 35.

Off-spinner Ayub Umar bowled to capture three wickets for 40 runs while Umar Khalid took two for 31.

Eaton didn’t pose much threat as they were dismissed for 183 in the 36th over. Bilal Umar (49 with five fours and one six) and Furqan Khalil (47, seven boundaries) were the chief run-getters.

Mudassar grabbed figures of four for 40 while off-spinner Shiraz Ali claimed two wickets for 31 runs.
