OSLO: Pakistan’s Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai in an exclusive interview with DawnNews, said that she intends to return to Pakistan next year.

“God willing I will return to Pakistan very soon,” she said.

“Next year when my GCSE exams finish God willing I will most certainly return,” Malala said during the interview in Oslo.

“Winning the peace prize is a great honour for me and the country…this award is for all the children who raise their voice for their rights,” she said.

Malala stated that the prize money from the award will be spent in Pakistan on children’s education.

“I want to start by helping my hometown Swat and Shangla where there is a need for secondary schools,” she said.

Malala received the Nobel Peace Prize on Wednesday along with Kailash Satyarthi of India. The 17-year-old is the youngest ever Nobel winner.

She was 15 when a Taliban gunman shot her in the head as she travelled on a school bus in response to her campaign for girls' education.

Although her injuries almost killed her, she recovered after being flown for extensive surgery in Birmingham, central England.

She has been based in England with her family ever since, continuing both her education and activism.
