Legal action against Korang River polluters

RAWALPINDI: Punjab Environment Protection Agency (Punjab-EPA) Rawalpindi chapter has been directed to take legal action against those who pollute Korang River that falls into Rawal Lake.

The directives were given by Punjab-EPA Director-General Farooq Hamid Sheikh during his visit to Rawal Dam and its catchment areas along with District Officer Environment Muhammad Nawaz to review progress in efforts being made to stop water contamination.

He asked the authorities concerned to launch a comprehensive survey of hotels, restaurants, hospitals, poultry farms and guest houses in Murree and along Korang River which dumped untreated sewage in the river.
