Students asked to acquire technical education

SWABI: Students have been asked to acquire contemporary technical education to be able to play their due role in the country’s advancement while catching up with the latest developments in the technical know-how.

The call was made by educationists while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the three-day International Leadership Summit and International Airex, 2014, at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology here on Friday.

The event featured remote control aircraft flying competition, leadership training sessions and different technical modules at undergraduate and graduate levels.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, GIK Institute chapter, organised the two programmes, simultaneously.

The participants said that technical education should be top priority of the government and that the institutions established for such training were required to have the modern equipments and adequate facilities.

Orya Maqbool Jan, eminent Urdu columnist, while addressing the participants said that the Muslims could be awakened only though education to regain their past glory.

“They should learn from their mistakes and put their heads together and work for getting advanced education which is a prerequisite for revival of the economy, political maturity and competition with economically and militarily strong powers,” he said.

Zeeshan Rasool of the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, said if the young students really desired to improve their knowledge they should instill in themselves the spirit of teamwork, technical skills, management techniques and confidence.

Aqib Ali Haideri of Mirpur University of Science and Technology said that valuable gatherings of the young engineers worked as a source of inspiration.

“We remain in constant contact with each other, planning future and interacting which help us to show excellent result,” he said.

Orya Maqbool Jan gave away shields and certificates to the outstanding students.
