ETPB serves eviction notice on Rashid

LAHORE: The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) has served an eviction notice on Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid regarding its property he has allegedly been occupying in Rawalpindi since Musharraf’s era.

According to a press release issued by the ETPB here on Friday, Mr Rashid had been occupying the trust’s seven houses/flats (adjacent to Lal Haveli) measuring over 10-marla since long.

The notice has been served by the ETPB deputy administrator (Rawalpindi), requesting the AML chief to vacate the property within seven days or face a legal administrative action.

Talking to Dawn, ETPB Chairman Siddiqul Farooq rejected the impression of any sort of political victimisation, saying the notice was not meant to harass Sheikh Rashid.

“Since I took over the charge as chairman, I launched a campaign again all influential people possessing the trust land unlawfully. I took action against an influential mill owner for illegally occupying the state land in Nankana. I took similar action in Anarkali recently,” he explained.
