Patwaris on strike in DG Khan

DERA GHAZI KHAN: More than 200 patwaris have gone on strike in a protest against ban on seeking help of assistants to do revenue work and cancellation of package announced for the computerisation of record.

The district government has asked the patwaris not to keep private assistants or munshis to do revenue work.

Assistant Commissioner Tariq Khan raided offices of the patwaris to check implementation of the ban and found most offices closed or patwaris absent.

Anjuman-i-Patwarian head Rana Sajjad said the patwaris all over the province were already on strike against cancellation of Rs3 billion package for the computerisation of the revenue record. He said the computerisation project was given to “non-revenue” officials, who committed countless mistakes because of a lack of knowledge.

He said cancellation of the package would hamper the process. He said the patwaris were against the ban on keeping assistants at their desks as one patwari could not handle the public demands alone.
