Four brothers booked for firing on businessman

MIRPURKHAS: Four brothers were booked and one of them arrested on Wednesday in an extortion and attempted murder case after they allegedly opened fire on a businessman and his son sitting at their home appliances outlet situated at Post Office Chowk on Tuesday night.

The businessman, Abdul Majeed Shaikh, former vice president of the Mirpurkhas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, lodged an FIR against Ahmed aka Baba Qureshi, and his three brothers, Akbar, Zafar and Wajid, at the area police station stating that the suspects came to his shop and demanded money.

He said that he refused to oblige them upon which the suspects opened fire on him and his son, Sheharyar Shaikh.

However, he added, he and his son escaped unhurt in the firing.

Mr Shaikh said that the firing attracted attention of many people, who rushed to their rescue forcing the suspects to flee.

Later, police carried out a raid on the suspects’ house but could arrest only Ahmed Baba.

A hunt for the other suspects was under way, the police said.
