Showdown likely at Lakhin-Jo-Daro

SUKKUR: The Sukkur district administration and a private party establishing an oil mill on its plot declared an ‘archaeological site’ on Tuesday headed for what could be a showdown with the construction work going on in defiance of official directives for an immediate halt.

The Sukkur SSP and the SHO concerned have been asked to establish the writ of the provincial government and the district administration by forcing the industrialist, Mr Nooruddin, and his associates to stop all construction activity at the site, officially named as ‘Lakhin-Jo-Daro’, situated within the Sukkur industrial estate.

On his part, Mr Nooruddin said he was ready to face any illegal action against him, and insisted that he possessed the mandatory NOCs (no-objection certificates) from the authorities concerned. He claims that his plots were out of the boundaries of Lakhin-Jo-Daro.
