Six-day immunisation drive begins in Quetta

QUETTA: Balochistan Health Minis­ter Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch inaugurated a six-day immunisation campaign in parts of Quetta district on Monday.

The drive launched against nine fatal diseases would target 280,000 children in 18 union councils of Quetta, including Pasthoonabad, Eastern Bypass, Killi Aghbarg, Balili, Kharotabad, Killi Kotwal, Kuchlak, Ahmezai, Kechi Baig, Shadezai and Killi Geo.

He said Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Balcoh had contributed Rs150 million from the CM’s funds for eradication of polio and other diseases from the province.

Over 200 medical teams would administer vaccines to children below five years of age, the minister said.

In reply to a question, he said salaries had been paid to lady health workers in 14 districts and the rest would receive their pay soon.

Secretary Health Arshad Bugti, Direc­tor General Nasir Ahmed Baloch and other officials were present on the occasion.
