Night-gala at scouts college enthralls audience

MANSEHRA: The Pakistan Scouts Cadet College, Batrassi, organised a night-gala here the other day, bringing together cadets and their parents to spend pleasant moments after months of separation.

The cadets danced and sang to drumbeats, and performed skits highlighting the issues and challenges facing the nation.

They also presented qawwali amid appreciation and cheers from the audience.

The parents from across the country and Gulf States attended the event.

A stage-show highlighting problems of mentally retarded people was the centre piece of the event, which kept the audience spell-bound.

“I am so much glad while being with my parents at this memorable occasion in my life. I simply cannot express my emotions,” said Abdullah Waraich, whose parents had come from Sargodha to attend the event.

He said that the night-gala provided the students an opportunity of entertainment with their families.

Mohammad Taib, who performed in a skit, said that he had no wards to express his emotions as he enjoyed the night a lot.

Speaking on the occasion, retired Brigadier Abdul Hafiz, the college principal, thanked the parents for attending the event. He said that the basic purpose of celebrating the night-gala was to provide an opportunity to cadets to spare time from their hectic study schedule and meet their families in a pleasant environment.

On the occasion, commissioner Pakistan Scouts Association Abdul Kareem Baloch said that such events were highly important for grooming of cadets. He said that the scouts association made Pakistan proud by establishing such a great educational institution in the country where not only high standard of education was maintained but cadets were also imparted military and profession training in scouting.

CHILD KILLED ON ROAD: A minor child was killed after he jumped in front of a cab while playing outside his house in Barda area.

The accident occurred on Mansehra-Barda road. He died while being taken to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the cab driver tried to keep his vehicle away from the minor child, but couldn’t succeed.
