Polio in Pakistan

PAKISTAN has not been able to eradicate the polio virus and there is widespread prevalence of the disease in the country, putting its future and prestige at risk.

The incidence of polio cases are increasing at an alarming rate and causing concern among the international community.

This dreaded disease is also creating difficulties for Pakistanis who wish to go abroad, as they have problems acquiring visas, because the host countries are reluctant to admit Pakistanis for fear they will bring along the disease.

I urge the health authorities to take serious interest in this matter. Plan and implement policies that would help eradicate the polio virus.
