MONTGOMERY: A meeting of the All-India Muslim Women’s Conference, held at Bahar Afshan, Montgomery, on November 14 passed a resolution unanimously, deploring and protesting against the injustices done to Miss K.B. Ferozuddin by the Punjab Government in ignoring her rightful claims to the appointment of Deputy Directoress of Education and appealed to Mian Abdul Haye, Minister of Education, to revise his decision. Miss K.B. Ferozuddin is one of the most capable ladies in Punjab Education Department and is at present Principal Stratford College, Amritsar and has been a successful Inspectoress of Schools of Lahore Division. The meeting considered it most disheartening for Muslim women to learn that the observance of ‘purdah’ should be considered a disqualification for promotion.

[Meanwhile,] pandemonium prevailed at an All-India Inter-Collegiate Debate held this evening [Nov 22] in the Arabic College Hall, to discuss that “home is the only proper sphere of activity for women”. Uproar started at the very outset, when the President stood up to speak, leading to utter confusion and scuffle among rival sections. Panic reigned for some time and it was with considerable difficulty that the lady debaters were escorted outside the hall. (Dawn, Delhi)
