Property dispute claims life

LAHORE: A 30-year-old man was shot dead over a property dispute in Minhala village of Hadiara on Friday.

Hadiara Station House Officer Muhammad Ikram said suspect Karamat called Shafique alias Bao outside his house and opened fire on him following a quarrel.

He said Shafique, a labourer and father of three, had got a house from Karamat on mortgage a year ago and later developed a dispute over return of the mortgage amount.

Quoting villagers, Ikram said Shafique and Karamat had got into arguments also in the past.

The SHO hoped the accused would be tracked down soon.

Police shifted the body for autopsy and registered a murder case on the complaint of victim’s brother Rafique.

ROBBERIES: Robbers took away cash, jewellery and other valuables all worth Rs2.16 million in four major house strikes in the city on Friday.

Three robbers entered the house of Iqbal Qureshi in Q-Block of Model Town and took away cash and valuables worth Rs1.1m after holding family members hostage at gunpoint.

Three muggers struck the residential property of Ghulam Ali in Yasrab Colony in Manga Mandi police remit, looted cash and valuables all worth Rs500,000 and escaped.

Some robbers burst into the house of Sheikh Mahmood in M-Block of Johar Town in Nawab Town police limits and took away cash and valuables worth Rs260,000.

Some robbers entered the house of Rehan in Bhubatian village in Chuhng police remit and looted cash and valuables all worth Rs300,000.

ACCIDENT: A factory worker was killed and his fellow was injured after a car hit them on Raiwind Road near Bhubatian Chowk on Friday.

Police said Khalid, 55, and Boota, 45, were trying to cross the road at the time of the incident.

The car driver escaped from the scene while the victims were taken to a nearby hospital where Khalid succumbed to his injuries.

SUICIDE: A 45-year-old labourer committed suicide due to financial constraints in Pambha Jugian village of Shadbagh on Friday.

Police said Gul Sher, a father of five, was upset over being unemployed for few days and had got into argument with his wife who demanded money to meet domestic expenses. Gul hanged self at home.

Police initially seized the body and later handed it over to the family after certain verifications.
